bio

I live and write outside of Mankato, Minnesota. I have a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and history and a master’s degree in history from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I have worked or currently work as a newspaper reporter, copy editor, freelance writer, adjunct professor, university curriculum manager, and once as a waitress for seven months. When I was young I worked as an all-around cemetery errand girl, where duties including picking up sticks, watering flowers, killing gophers, filling in graves, raking leaves, and disposing of artificial flowers.

My current book-length project is a memoir about growing up as a gravedigger’s daughter in small-town Minnesota.
