Speaking events

I’m a seasoned public speaker and I would be happy to speak at your event.  I’m comfortable in front of  small and large groups. I can speak on topics such as:

        ·      The writing process

        ·      Memoir and creative nonfiction

        ·      Historical perspectives on death and dying

        ·      Cemeteries in society

        ·      Grief in society

        ·      Faith

Private workshops and writing classes

I am available to conduct half-day or daylong writing workshops with small groups on memoir or creative nonfiction. I can work with you to develop a unique workshop depending on your specific needs and goals. I also can set up an online class for a duration of 4-12 weeks. An online class consists of readings, discussions, writing exercises, and weekly live chat sessions via Zoom.

Classroom and library visits

I can either come to your school or do a session via Zoom. For grades 9-12, I lead workshops and discussions that focus on essay, journalism, and memoir. See this video that explains how my book can be used in classrooms. For elementary and middle grades, I can do activities that revolve around one of my many children’s nonfiction books. One of my more popular presentations is from my Can You Survive Antarctica? interactive adventure book.

Conferences and workshops

I’m available to do an individual or panel presentation at writing conferences and workshops. I’m also available to lead workshops on the craft of memoir, essay, and narrative nonfiction.
